Higher Farm Education is an ‘Alternative Provision (AP) education centre’. We are a specialist educational setting designed to support children and young people who need more outside of the mainstream education provision. We offer vocational learning, life skills, and enrichment opportunities in order to help young people with SEND prepare for further education, training, employment, or independent living.
It is our mission to offer young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) a flexible, personalised approach to education, ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive environment and provide them with a pathway to employability through bespoke practical learning experiences.

Set over a 100 acres of Cheshire Countryside our unique and tranquil farm-based setting provides the perfect location to meet the varying needs of young people with SEND.
Each individual is at the centre of everything we do. Learning programmes are tailored to each student’s strengths, needs, and interests. Smaller class sizes and flexible timetables allow our team of staff to adapt teaching approaches, pace, and curriculum content to support meaningful progress.

Everything we do is based around offering a calm, structured, and understanding environment that helps young people feel safe, valued, and respected. Our dedicated and friendly support staff work to build positive relationships, establish clear routines, and develop consistent expectations in order to support our young learner’s emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement with learning.

As an Alternative Provision, we believe that wellbeing is the foundation for meaningful learning.
Our Human Ecotherapy approach recognises the powerful connection between people, nature and emotional health. By working closely with families, local authorities, therapists and external agencies, we support mental health, behaviour, attendance and personal development alongside academic progress, helping young people feel regulated, connected and ready to learn.

We believe that young people learn when they feel engaged and inspired. Alongside our broad range of courses, our Activity and Wellbeing Programme offers young learners a rich variety of practical, creative, and adventurous experiences. These range from time spent in our Art Hub and Woodland Centre to adventurous Activities in our Indoor and Outdoor activity spaces.

Higher Farm Education offers three specialist pathways, all centred around our unique animal-focused learning environment. Our core Alternative Provision supports students through personalised, therapeutic education. Alongside this, our Outreach Programme enables young people in mainstream education to attend structured sessions that support regulation, engagement and wellbeing. We also deliver Animal Assisted Intervention, providing short, focused sessions where children and young people can connect with animals to promote calm, emotional balance and readiness to learn.
We are truly committed to ensuring that every young person, regardless of need or background, is given the opportunity to achieve their potential. By removing barriers to learning and celebrating individual differences, we aim to play a vital role in creating positive outcomes for young people.
